History of the CDIO
Since 1924 the equestrian tournament CHIO which has been held in Aachen ever since, it´s the only event of it’s kind in Germany. In 2007 in addition to the disciplines of show jumping, dressage and driving, vaulting and eventing have been added to the programme. In each discipline a winner will be determine in the single and in the team competition.
In July 1924, the first tournament took place in Aachen, which even than lasted six days. In 1927 the disciplines of show jumping, dressage and driving were included and thus the first “Grand Prix of Aachen” has been held. From the 17th – 19th of August 1939 the last major tournament for the time being took place until 1947 when the tournament has been reestablished to be held annually.
In 1986 there was a further interruption, since in Aachen the show jumping World Championships were held. This year the tradition will be broken for a second time. So we are looking forward to present to you the dressage Nations’ Cup 2015 in Hagen a.T.W. at the Kasselmann estate.
